One Pot by Martha Stewart offers over 120 recipes that require a minimum of dishes to prepare and cook.The recipes make use of the skillet, stockpot and crock pot to create a hearty meal. Many of the recipes are ethnic foods while some are comfort food favorites. There are even dessert ideas in this cook book.What I liked the most is that you do not have to be an experienced chef to create most of these meals. There are not any laborious techniques in these recipes. There are, however, some unusual ingredients that I would have no idea of where to find. Because I live with a bunch of picky eaters, there weren't any recipes that I would make that my whole family would enjoy. There are some that I would enjoy or that two of us would like, but it's not worth the expense to cook a meal that only 1 or 2 of 5 people will eat.My only other issue with the book is the binding. I just do not understand why publishers create cookbooks that won't stay open by themselves. Cookbooks should be required to have spiral binding!Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for writing an honest review. I bought this book partly because I'm looking for one-pot meals to make while RV camping, but I like making one-pot meals at home, too. So far have made 13 of its recipes. One (beef stew with noodles) was spectacular, four were just OK, and the rest were good. Most of the recipes tend towards meatiness but there are some fish and vegetarian ones, too.The methods are simple and the recipes have all been unfussy to prepare and generally do not require a lot of ingredients. They tolerate substitutions well.Nice features of this book are that the recipes are grouped by their cooking pot - Dutch oven, skillet, slow cooker, etc., each recipe has a color picture that helps me to decide what I want to make for dinner, and the book's wipe-clean jacket has inside flaps that can be used to keep your place.I've had this cookbook for about 4 weeks and it has already earned its shelf space.

I have to admit that I am a little obsessed with all the various one pot styles of cooking. Starting probably way (way!) back in college, when I literally had only one pot to cook in, I made an infinite varieties of what came to be known as "stoop" (ie not quite stew, not quite soup). Now, thankfully, while I can afford more than one pot to cook in, I still am partial to only using one for a meal. Maybe it is the comfort of all that goodness cooking together, or maybe I am just too lazy to do a lot of cleaning up after dinner. Either way, needless to say, I have a lot of practice in this cooking method.I will start off by saying that One Pot: 120+ Easy Meals is a worthwhile addition to my somewhat overburdened and sagging cookbook shelf. While my all time favorite I think will continue to be my handful of tagine recipes given to me decades ago by a family friend, or the timeless and always wonderful The Clay Pot Cookbook, One Pot gives some really nice approaches in a variety of styles that are accessible to almost any level of expertise in the kitchen.Since being given One Pot, I have worked my way through several dozen of the recipes (did I mention I really like one pot recipes? lol). Most were just about dead-on as recipes go. The Kale and Tuscan Bean Soup was a particular favorite for my husband, who is not usually one for either anything Tuscan nor bean- (he has had an anti-Tuscan bias since I made him watch The English Patient, and the bean problem, well, you know..) The Mac and cheese varieties (yes, tried all of them!), were of course universally loved by my grandson and his friends, and the adults did not exactly shy away from it either. I was a little less crazy about the Beef Stroganoff, but it was a reasonable foundation that I felt just required some doctoring from the spice cabinet.Your taste of course will vary from mine in assessing individual recipes, but as always you will need to adjust spices and flavors to suit your own preferences.All in all, One Pot is a very good introduction to the art of one pot cooking (and thus one-pot clean up!). If you have not worked with a pressure cooker before, here is a nice opportunity to try one out (buy a newer model, they are so much more safe than the old ones we used to use!). Likewise having a good roasting pan will make your efforts so much more pleasant for entertaining or just filling your house with wonderful aromas and good healthy foods.I have probably rambled long enough about this now. I have a new Korean stone bowl that just arrived, and I have a date with some hot pot recipes!

Be advised that the paperback edition contains Black & White images. This would be okay, if it was mentioned in the book description. I ordered a new copy from Amazon. What I received resembles a copy of a copy. The images are low quality. I will be returning it for the hardback.

This has been for many years, THE book to have. Alas, it is not entirely up-to-date, which one would naturally expect since the author is deceased. We do need a 21st century, comprehensive study of rare, semi-tropical, tropical fruit plants and trees. There is certainly a market for it out there. But in the meantime, this is a must read for serious growers/collectors of less-common fruit.

If you like tropical fruit, this is the book to have. You may read online at Purdue.edu but I've wanted a hard copy for years. It's great to find this classic in print for an affordable price.

This is a great book full of information on growing various tropical and subtropical fruits. While it is available free online, I enjoy being able to thumb through the pages.

This is one of the best books I own. Very in-depth research and more information than any modern book on the topic. If you are into growing tropical fruit, get this book.

This is a very thorough book about every kind of fruit tree grown in warm climates. I would highly recommend getting it if you have any interest in growing tropical trees for food production, on a farm or for home.

I've followed Thacker through hell and back, across dozens of novels and short stories, and this is by far his best work. It's a watershed book, signaling serious growth for the author, into a new era of storytelling. The concept is fresh, the characters are earnest and fully developed, and the action is unmatched. I started reading late one evening, intending to give it a start and finish it on a flight three days later, and ended up reading it in one sitting.This is the launch of Thacker's new Mason Dixon Thrillers, and I can't wait to see where the series goes from here. In Mason Dixon, we have an antihero protagonist who is clever and bright, and who pulls the reader in through a personable and highly entertaining narrative. He's a character comparable to Jack Reacher and Dirk Pitt—a thrill to follow, from his best to his worst and back again.I'm looking forward to a long and heart-pounding series.

This is the first in what will undoubtedly be a new series of thrillers from Nick Thacker, and he is certainly off to a great start. Although I usually go for e-books on the cheaper end of the scale, the brief excerpt he posted, with the first few chapters, was enough that I pre-ordered and paid. I say all this to back my full disclosure that I am one of Thacker's "team" and received an advance copy to review. The great start that I had already read held up throughout the book, with enough wrong turns and surprises to keep me hooked to the very end. I'm looking forward to more great Mason Dixon adventures. At some point in the series to come I hope Nick will go back and give us a "prequel" that fills in the back story of how Mason came to be, well, Mason. I think you'll love this book. I know I did. Mr. Thacker captured me with the opening line, "I knew I would kill him as soon as he walked in.”This is the first in what I hope is a long line of Mason Dixon Thrillers (see, it says #1 in the parenthetical part of the title--I can read goodly).Mason Dixon owns a bar. And has a side job. While the bar serves as a good meeting place within the story, kind of home base, the story is more about the side job. Much more interesting, much more dangerous, much more deadly. Suffice to say, trouble ensues after that opening line.The first 10-20 pages are a little confusing to read. Said confusion clears enough after that, but mysteries abound and deepen. There is a woman (there's always a woman, right?) that captures Dixon's attention. She and her male companion are passing through to her father's funeral.This feels like a modern-day noir. The main characters are well drawn and sympathetic(ish). Mason Dixon himself is capable of inflicting damage, but he's nowhere near impervious. Settings are always dark, even in the middle of the day. Plot is reasonably complex, though there are some open questions at the end of the story that will (hopefully) be addressed in Book 2. (At least Mr. Thacker indicated to me they would be.)Excellent introduction to a new series. Highly recommended.

The basic story was somewhat simplistic and of course unbelievable. Would have been a better just plain story to pass the time but half the book is simply description of various forms of alcohol. The way whisky smells, swirls, tastes.....and every other form of booze!! This is NOT a book to be read at an AA meeting. Finallly, will not even think of reading the next book.

Mark for Blood is a new kind of thriller for Nick Thacker. Nick is one of my favorite authors and he doesn't disappoint with this one. Although it is a different style of writing for him he knocks it out of the park. There are many twists and turns that you don't see coming. I love the crusty character Mason Dixon. I do hope Nick gives us a prequel to explain how Mason got to be Mason. His buddy, cook, and all round handy man, Joey fits perfectly in the story. I can't wait to read more about these two and their escapades. Nick does a great job on this one and I am not so patiently waiting for the next one. Don't miss this great thriller.

This is a book that is really hard to put down! Mason Dixon - a character with the ability to know his own mind. If I had any criticism of this book it would be that it was just a bit wordy. However, that said, e everything written added to the reader's understanding of Jason's outlook on the world around him. The main characters are really well drawn without going too deeply into their backgrounds. Although the hints given show each of them are as complex as needed for the story line. The action scenes are both varied and believable, something lacking in many books written today. I look forward to the next Mason Dixon novel.

Nick Thacker draws Mason Dixon into sweet misery and Dixon crosses the line back and forth from being just a bartender to an assassin who kills the marks or bad guys.Only he makes a mistake and gets himself into serious trouble trying to rescue Hannah Rayburn. I've never read about a guy who gets into some really tough spots and finds a way out. This is the first Mason Dixon thriller and I will pay good money to read the next chapter.

Nick Thacker became on of my favorite authors from the first book I read. In this series(I know this was the first novel, but with a guy like Mason Dixon you know there's always trouble in the near future), he explores an entirely different genre and direction. And he does it remarkably well. I have to razz him about two errors in the book(hey Nick, I really want to be on your beta team). The characters are well developed, the plot multilayered and all in all very well done.ER

This is nonsense. A whole lot of words without any substantial meaning. I really did not want to know what certain people in the profession "feel" about accounting. Every chapter was so intriguing that I finished the whole book in one go! I was very much impressed with the quality of the book. Some people might even say that you get all the information on the Internet these days. But my question is – where else would you get such original perspectives from multiple top professors in one place? Where else would you get information from the top minds of the world which you can trust? Why consider a career in this field? Why study Accounting after all? Being a career adviser, I know how important this book is for the students and grads. Why study this accounting? Answers are in the book but I can say with 100% conviction that you will not be disappointed by buying this book. In fact, many college students change their majors and it simply wastes their time (and of course their parents' money). If you buy this book, you will be able to save thousands of dollars for your parents in tution fees. Graduating months earlier with a degree in Accounting means you will have more opportunity. I read chapters by chatpers and found all the chapters very insightful. Look at the universities - all the professors come from top universities, and they offer very insightful tips. I liked this book on Accounting for the Curious. This book helped me clearly understand what actually accounting is. For just $10, this peer-reviewed/academic book is a real bargain. I was confused as to what to choose for my undergraduate major and this book opened up my eyes. I found this book also useful for graduate or PhD studies. The good thing is that - there are so many top professors writing the insightful chapters in plain English for the students like myself. I think it will save the students (and their parents) thousands of dollars because changing the major again and again will cost them lots of money. I showed this book to my parents and they were glad I bought it. Yes - I highly recommend it.
