This book kind of drove me crazy. I loved the story, truly, but at times I couldn't wait for it to end. It was many stories one right after the other, each one angsty and drama laden. Guess it had to be that way due to the time and setting. Loved the characters ! Could use a smidge of proofreading and editing . ie at one point in the cabin, he tells her that is the first she has used his Lenni Lenape name. In truth, she already used it in the wolves scene .

Woman.... at times wanted her things her way....but ThapaAkee was very patient with Katelyn .because he loved her so much....they helped each other.....true love and devotion....Good book !!!!

I felt that the start was too slow and the heroine had to be heroic too many times. I would have liked to see the fox be a lot stronger and save the day a few more times. I found him to be a bit weak so that she could be smarter and take control although the story implied that he was quite a bit older and you would think wiser than she. Over all I did enjoy the story and didn't want to stop reading

Sturdy piece. Easy to install. Itâ€™s a little shaky if you have to touch your screen for any reason, but I donâ€™t see a way around that. Love the extra desk space it created.

I first read this book decades ago and I still reread it now and then. It makes for a great documentary of the voyage of the Kon-Tiki raft across the Pacific from South America to Polynesia. My only current problem with the book is that some of the descriptions of interactions with the South American and Polynesian residents are severely outdated, and somewhat cringe-worthy in their cultural biases. However, if you understand the times and the limitations of the literature, it is still a description of a great adventure and a good read.

I had heard about the legendary Kon-Tiki adventure all my life, but never really understand the magnitude of the accomplishment of the 6-man team until I read the book. No wonder the story has captivated thrill-seekers, adventurers and historians for more than 65 years! On a recent trip to Peru, our tour guide proudly mentioned that the Peruvians were responsible for populating the Pacific Islands, so I decided to finally to read this great adventure book.Early in the book Heyerdahl writes that in ancient Peru, "Kon-Tiki was high priest and sun-king of the Incas' legendary 'white men' who had left the enormous ruins on the shores of Lake Titicaca... Kon-Tiki... and his closest companions escaped and later came down to the Pacific coast, whence they finally disappeared oversea to the westward." Heyerdahl was convinced that Kon-Tiki was identical with the white chief-god Tiki, son of the sun, whom the inhabitants of all the eastern Pacific islands hailed as the original founder of that race. Heyerdahl decided that he needed to prove his theory by demonstrating that a primitive balsa-wood raft could have been carried by the currents from Peru to Polynesia.So he set out to find backers, assemble a team of men to accompany him, build the raft, and acquire the provisions. They knew that once they left the coastal area of Peru, they would not encounter any ships, for no shipping route ran through that part of the Pacific. They had only minimal trials on their crudely built raft, and said that the first days of their journey turned "landlubbers into seamen". By modern day standards, they seemed spectacularly unprepared for this 4000+ mile odyssey. The author writes in intricate detail about how the raft behaved on the ocean, and about their daily routine of manning the helm, setting the sail, preparing meals, catching fish, playing with dolphins and sharks, etc. One of their most exciting experiences was meeting a terrifying sea monster, a whale shark, largest fish known in the world.The writing is quite humorous at times; for instance, "Torstein limped about for some time with a rag round his big toe because he had let is stray into the mouth of a dolphin, which had used the opportunity to close its jaws and chew a little harder than usual." The author can also be quite introspective and poetic at times: "Time and evolution somehow ceased to exist; all that was real and that mattered were the same today as they had always been and would always be. We were swallowed up in the absolute common measure of history - endless unbroken darkness under a swarm of stars."What is oddly lacking in the tale though (and the reason why I granted 4 stars rather than 5), was any significant development of the personalities of the 6 men who inhabited the raft for 101 days. We read about a few humorous episodes and scary events when one of the sailors falls into the sea, but we read almost no dialogue or interaction between them. How did they get along? Did they squabble? Did they get homesick? Were they afraid of never reaching shore again? Did they have wives and children at home? Did they have annoying habits? How did they handle boredom? Did they get badly sunburned? Did someone always sing out of tune and irritate the heck out of the others? Those types of little details would have humanized the 6 men considerably. I can hardly remember any distinguishing characteristics between them, other than 2 of them slaved over the radio all the time, and one dove into the water to save the life of the other who was falling further and further behind the raft after going overboard.Nevertheless, it is a well written chronology of the most impressive feat of floating 101 days across the empty ocean, with only the waves and stars and sun and fish to accompany them. They endured and thrived and have won a well deserved spot in history.

The scanned text is of good quality but the pictures and maps included in the hardcover version that reinforce his findings are missing. Therefore this version has limited value. Maybe that is to be expected considering the low price.

This is the first used textbook Iâ€™ve ever purchased from Amazon or any site and I was nervous about it considering I was exactly sure what I was paying for. Iâ€™m high pleased with my purchase and the textbook doesnâ€™t show many signs of use. I would definitely recommend this purchase to anyone who needs this book but doesnâ€™t want to pay full price!

I specifically needed the access code for my class, and today I received the book and a working access code. I verified that the access code was unused by logging into Cengage and registering my code. You can do this even before you receive a course key from your instructor, just to be sure your access code is working before your first day of class. The book itself was in very good condition.

I bought the ebook for a class that needed the online portion as well as the book, after all the description there is a small disclaimer that the access MIGHT not be included with the ebook. IT IS NOT!!! The ebook itself is not terrible a little clunky but not bad, but if you need the access code buy the physical book and save yourself a lot of money.

A lightbulb went off after I read this book > I realized two major things. 1) even though my husband and I were splitting up to-dos, they all still remained on my mental to-do list. and that means they're still on my plate 2) yes there will be some mothers who make the cutest valentine's day cards for the class that you're jealous of - and if they love to do that and get joy from it, all the power to them. but before you fall into the mommy guilt trap, ask your kids what's more important to them. to have homemade, perfect valentine's cards to hand out? or to spend time together playing a board game or watching his soccer game? we make assumptions about what being a good mom/wife/worker is about without taking a step back and asking what really matters to our family. once you do that, you have the incredible freedom and power to drop the ball.

Its obvious this book is a must read for today's women, who are seeking ways to thrive, but I HIGHLY recommend this book for the men - husbands, dads and male leaders. As I read this book, I've gained empathy and a new perspective I only sensed before but didn't quite understand completely until Tiffany made it clear for me. I now have a new lens for what my wife has done and is doing, to be an amazing wife, mother and career professional. Despite already being a proud and 'active' dad, I now understand her challenges and am attempting to step up to the plate and do more, to allow more balance in our marriage and parental roles, and to allow her an opportunity to be all she can be. After getting through the first third of the book which was not that relatable to me because I'm not an obsessive perfectionist like the author, the book got better because she gave explicit information on how she changed up the division of labor in her home to kick ass in her career. I would recommend this book to other mothers with careers and the partners that are supporting them, but I would not want to read this book if I were not one of those two categories of people.

Where do I begin with Tiffany Dufu? All I can say is that I am so GLAD she took the time out to write this book. She really has a special way of writing, and i mean that in a good way. It is more than just a book, it is a couple's therapy session along with a women confidence booster. Tiffany makes you feel like you can really do anything as a woman, without really doing everything. As a person who often takes on alot just to please others, often putting others needs before my own, stressed about how I would maintain an ambitious career, along with being a future superb wife and mom, I could see myself becoming very stressed early on. She completely changed my perspective on the HOW to let go, without the sacrificing of SELF. She is raw, she is authentic, honest, and speaks on real shit that many women just don't speak off, either suppressing it out of fear of being judged or conditioned to believe that they just shouldn't think that way. Tiffany shines light on undisclosed issues the modern working woman faces, along with trying to keep a lifetstyle where they feel free to embrace who they are, without being looked down at for not being the best wife or mom. Someone referrred this book during a Friday night casual chat about the weight of a career woman slash mother slash wife slash contributing community member. I started this book that Friday night and had completed it by the next week's Friday morning.It really hit home. Tiffany is a great writer and honest about her struggles with the aforementioned roles. I found myself laughing and on the verge of tears, recognizing my own story within her words.She provides realistic tools and shares stories that are both enlightening and light hearted, making it easy to see room and opportunity for small changes in your own "life go round".I read this book while nursing my newborn, waiting for laundry to finish, sitting with my 9 year old for reading time, my 10 minute "hurry up" lunch breaks, while hubby was in the garage working on his project or maintenancing my vehicle.Speaking of hubby, he is definitely an advocate for sharing household and family duties and no stranger to streamlining or spearheading strategies for us, unlike Kojo (respectively)-- in the story--BUT after reading this book, it was easier to talk with him about my own anxieties and feelings of overwhelm.I'd definitely recommend this book over and over again.

This book was life-changing. I first heard about it on the Good Life Project podcast and it nearly made me cry, realizing all of the ways in which I assume what my role should be, as a "good woman" and as a good family member. But as a leader, it seems I've left my skills at work, rather than engaging in the kind of team-building I am usually very good at doing in my corporate role. For all women who suffer some version of "home control disorder" this will open your eyes to new possibilities.

This book was the first book I ever read. I haven't found one yet since that I completed in one day. Yes, it is a thin book but it was so awesome. I grew up in what I thought was an abusive home, had six step fathers, four step mothers, and moved 4 times in high school. I grew up bitter and angry at my parents for not giving me a stable environment. After reading this, I became appreciative for the life I had growing up. I may not have had the best home life but I had people in my life who helped me grow and were always watching out for me. "A Child called It" made me greatful for what I did have and it made me realize things I had growing up that I didn't even realize I had. I love it and plan on making my kids read it.

Once I started reading this book, I did not want to put it down. I am so grateful for having discovered, ' A Child Called It", as I was severely abused from the ages 5 to 17 years old. This book has started an inner healing process.As I started reading, I started crying, crying so loudly that I started wailing. Uncontrollable tears rolling down my cheeks, and many, many tissues. I applaud Dave Pelzer for using his torturous past to help bring healing to so many people. I can not wait to read his other books. If you can read this review Dave, I want to say Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you.

My brother suggested I read this and I see why. For my entire childhood I was abused physically and emotionally by my mother while the rest of the family acted like it was normal. Only now in adulthood do they see how entirely abnormal it was for one person to be singled out for one parent's hatred and wrath. This see story is so familiar to me in so many ways; many of the same scenarios played out in my childhood, although not to the horrible extremes that the author sustained. There isn't a day that my childhood doesn't haunt me in some way, but like the author, my strong inner spirit and will to survive triumphed. I will be reading the other books in this series.

As a social worker, no one likes to talk about these sorts of things. What makes child abuse different is how deeply itâ€™s impact goes and how many people it impacts. Itâ€™s an evil no one wants to see or accept and many will look the other way. And then there are those who will not turn away and instead step in and risk pieces of them self to try and save a child. David tells his story in a raw way that leaves you saddened but inspired. Itâ€™s a hard read that you canâ€™t put down. You almost â€œfeelâ€ what heâ€™s going through. Beautifully and courageously written.

It is a good read, and I think itâ€™s important for people to read this book, but proper warning must be given. This is a sever case of child abuse that is hard to stomach reading. I think because itâ€™s so traumatic that itâ€™s our duty to read the story so we may learn how to prevent child abuse.I first read this when I was young, in grade school myself. (as of writing this review I have reread it to give an account with a fresh memory in mind) I donâ€™t know if this was the best book for a middle schooler to read. When I picked it up I understood the subject would be about abuse when I started, but I had no idea how graphic it would be.When I first read it this book always stuck with me, in a positive way. I knew child abuse was a thing but I had no idea how truly terrible it was. It was at the back of my mind. By the time I went to high school this book was still in my mind and I tried to be diligent about looking for potential signs in my classmates.Now as a young adult the book has always stayed with me in my mind. I often discuss politics and mention issues I find important to friends. Child abuse is heart breaking and when I have time I try to inform people about it.You could easily say this was a life changing book for me. The shock it gave me as a child was something iâ€™ve kept with me for all of my life. It was a tool that changed they way I think and caused me to pursue more attention to the issues of child abuse, and specifically educating others.The book itself is short and a quick read. I finished it within a two hour sitting. If you can stomach it youâ€™ll probably finish it in one sitting as well.

This book most certainly does its job on bringing awareness towards child abuse. This book is the account of one child's unthinkable abuse. It offered me great insight on a child's perspective as he goes from having a loving family environment to a victim of child brutality. This book offers much knowledge on how to escape that kind of life and that it is okay to be different and that you're not alone. Lastly, it shows that the impact his childhood had on his life was great enough to influence him into writing this book and bringing awareness.

It took me a long time to read the book. I had to put it away many, many times. My own life has so many similarities. In a different way, with different people, but the outcome is the same. And the struggle to survive is too. The daily struggle to regain your life and to believe you are worth something. That.Thanks Dave Pelzer, for your courage to put into words what you went through and in doing so helping people like me.

I read some of the book back in the 90s when I was in elementary school but honestly didn't remember much about it. This year, it was assigned as required reading for a paper in my Child Abuse and Neglect class, and my original book is in storage, so I went ahead and ordered a new one. It is a quick read and took me less than a day to finish. In my opinion, it is a good book. It is a very sad story, but unfortunately, it is also one that many people live on a daily basis. I enjoyed it enough where I went ahead and ordered the other books in the trilogy.

This book reminded me that this just doesn't happen in movies but real life too. I've appreciated my mother more. It's usually hard to make me cry but this book though.........i literally had to stop reading because i couldn't see anymore. It's greatly written. The author did a great job writing the book. He will make you feel like it was the kid himself telling the story and it felt like it was right from his diary. This has been a great read and also the second book.

I used this in Nassau and it provided a very handy little tour within the walk-able area. Sturdy and easy to read. But it will only fit in your pocket if you have a big cargo-shorts pockets, which worked fine for me.

With each passing day that Fallen Angel begins to rise in music world Viper is counting down the days he has left with Halo. Halo is coming to the realization that he is indeed famous, the new rules of how he lives his life are overwhelming and eye opening for him. The mix of attraction/relationship vs. dealing with the spotlight that comes with it adds a unique touch here that dragged me in. The band is growing closer too and united, working together to make this new band/album something fresh and inspiring. All the behind the scenes moments with recording, photo shoots and interviews only enhance this series more. Of course there's twist and turns that have you guessing what could happen next, add in side characters like Imogen and Wendy and you want to know more. And OMFG THE ENDING!!!! I can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Authorâ€™s Copy' of this book.

Holy fcking hotness, Batman!I'll tell ya, just when I thought it couldn't get any sexier or hotter than HALO, this happened and man was I wrong!This was fcking scorching. At every turn, nonstop and unapologetically. Hot AF and then some. And some more...It was also fun and sweet but it was just so hot and intense that that's all I can recall right now...All that raw, feral, just pure animalistic, all consuming intensity which sent everything else up in flames and down to ashes ðŸ”¥Perfect.I'll keep reading ðŸ“–

This is the second installment in a trilogy all about the same couple, so you should definitely read them in order to fully follow this awesome story :) and because this is a continuation of the story, writing this review will be a bit tricky, since I don't want to spoil you about certain stuff... so if I'm being a bit vague on the details, that's the reason ;) but before we get into more specifics about this installment, let me just tell you in general what this story is all about, so the next paragraph will be spoiler free and totally safe to read by everyone, even if you haven't picked up the first book yet :)This whole trilogy is about Halo and Viper :) Viper is the lead guitarist and songwriter for the world famous rock band TBD... a few months ago their lead singer left them suddenly (by the way, you can read all about Trent in "A little bit like desire") and ever since then they are struggling to find a replacement for him... all of that changes once Halo enters the picture... ;) where Viper is dark and sinfully seductive, Halo seems to be all innocent and angelic... the key word in that sentence is "seems" ;) Halo is also about ten years younger than the rest of the guys, being in his early twenties... he's also straight, or that's what he thought, before he found himself being drawn to Viper... :) the first book in this trilogy is all about that scorching hot chemistry between them and how long it will take them to finally succumb to it... *fans herself* to say that this book was hot would be an understatement, so be warned and maybe don't read it in public if you blush easily... just saying ;) now that we have these few basic informations out of the way, let me jump into a few more details about the sequel... don't worry, I won't spoil you any vital details, so even if you haven't read the first book, it's still safe for you to continue with this review :)Like I mentioned before, the first book is all about the growing sexual tention... anticipation and what comes before you make the move... now in this second installment we get the after part... what happens after you both took that step further and decided to give it a go... :) and my oh my... *fans herself* if I thought that the first book was hot because of all the tension and angst, this one is off the charts schorching... :) because Viper and Halo together? they are explosive :) I loved to get to know them more and the fact that in this installment we got to see the sides of both of them that may not seem so obvious at the beginning... ;) Halo with his angelic face and apparent innocence can be very teasing and confident when he wants to... and Viper with his I'm-all-for-being-casual-nothing-serious will surprise you all with little gestures that betray more than his willing to say out loud... more than he's willing to admit even to himself... :) to see their growing interactions was absolutely amazing... especially if they are written in such a phenomenal way... I mean... I already love this duo's work in the PresLocke series they released previously, but I think this trilogy might be even better... *sighs happily* I adore both Brooke Blaine and Ella Frank individually, but I swear, something magical happens when they write together... :) if you wouldn't know, you would never guess that two separate people wrote this gem... their styles blend together seamlessly and in the end create a masterpiece that I absolutely cannot put down... :) besides the absolutely swoonworthy / panties-melting main couple, you cannot forget about Killian, Jagger and Slade... as in the other band members :) I could sit here and spend a few days talking all about the love I have for this story and these characters, but I won't do it, cause I don't want to spoil you every little thing and surprising turn this book has to offer... so instead I highly encourage you to start at the beginning of their journey, if you haven't done it yet, and then continue on with this sequel... it will leave you with the biggest smile on your face, that I can promise... and then we can impatiently wait for the third and final book that is coming live in just a few weeks in april :) oh, and I almost forgot to mention... can we take a moment to admire the absolutely gorgeous cover of this book? :) *swoons* "Halo" had a perfect version of how I can picture him and I was very anxious and more than a little bit afraid that the one for "Viper" will be disappointing... I mean... it's not easy to portray him... but they definitely hit the jackpot with this one... let's just say that on more than one occasion during my reading of the story I got back to that very first page to stare at him for a moment... or two... ;)

This is the second book in the Fallen Angel series and it starts off right where we left in the first book, Halo.Halo and Viper continue to have their physical relationship while trying to navigate through real feelings that are starting to surface. Each is dealing with their own perspective on the situation. While Halo is trying to deal with being in a relationship with a man for the first time, Viper is trying to deal with the fact that he doesnâ€™t want anything more than sexual feelings. As we all know the heart wants what the heart wants and feelings arenâ€™t meant to be controlled. I obviously had my moments of wanting to punch Viper haha but it helps that we get both POVâ€™s so while he says one thing to Halo we the audience are in his head and know how he really feels. That helped me to empathize more and not be angry at some of his actions.It was a quick read and there is one more book coming in the series so any open questions that we still have should be answered. Iâ€™m excited to not only see where these two characters end up as a couple but also where the band ends up as a whole!

This one was when the rubber met the road. You meet David and understand why he hides behind the Viper persona. You watch Halo come to terms with an attraction heâ€™s never experienced and also become a true member of an established band.The character development is outstanding and the hotness hotter. The ending was the sweetest thing. I canâ€™t wait for the finale and have an idea for the cover (photo shoot chapter 14).

Zen Athlete by Matt Belair is the ultimate "all in one guide" to unlocking your true potential! The guide is tailored toward extreme sports, but anyone looking to improve in ANY skill can apply these techniques. The author covers a wide range of topics that really resonate with me - all which I've learned from other sources. Its reassuring to see Matt expound on these topics (nutrition, exercise, goal setting, law of attraction, zen principles). My favorite part of guide are the zen principles. Some may not fully understand the zen principles and how powerful they are at first. Once you reflect on it and learn the right balance of how to apply them (everything shouldn't be practiced to the extreme), it is life changing! We are much more powerful beings than we think and Matt shares how!

This helped me get my head in the game, funny but I felt as if I knew what I was reading already but it really helped fine tune what I wanted to achieve, if your already onto it then it will provide you with even more confidence to ramp it up and it is very nicely put together, I'm not a big reader but found it easy going, highly recommend.

In a world in which the speed we are bombarded with nonsense seems to be ever increasing this book is a powerful yet simple tool in creating a structured and manageable process in taking control of your life starting with the most important aspect, the mind. Loved the tips in this book. My lawn was in sad shape. Using many tonics faithfully from this book, my soil became conditioned and ready for other growing products. Before I started w. his tonics nothing worked. I could not grow grass to healthy permanent condition or keep new grass for more than one season. Now it's green and thriving. Yes tonics are a lot of work. Using a tonic before and after applying lime for example. But it works. Its fun too. I'm outside more. Tip on using beer, be sure to apply a rinse tonic after any use otherwise you'll get slugs all over. Use the clean up tonic faithfully. Also, make notes. I put mine in catagories and have mini reference sheets to use when outside and dirty.

we can't afford the landscape company services so my husband bought this book and we have used the weed killer and lawn fertilizer mixer ideas. our lawn looks as nice as the neighbors for much, much less. best option for the budget conscious like us

This is my favorite garden-help book! I am on my second one, having either lost or loaned out my last one. I really like the friendly way this book is written and the instructions are clear with ingredients I can pronounce! My roses went through a fungus issue and the book helped me figure out how to treat the problem. My roses look sooo much better now, thanks to the information in this book!

This book is a great bargain. The purchase price is very reasonable and the methods work very well and they are relatively inexpensive compared to commercial products. The methods are also very environmentally friendly.This is an excellent resource for those individuals who want to have a beautiful lawn and garden. I purchased this book for my husband after he saw this on PBS. He loves taking care of our lawn so this was right up his alley. We've had the book a year and we constantly get compliments on our lawn from all of our neighbors or guests we have over.There are a lot of neat tips and tricks you can try using household items like dish soap, spices, baking soda, etc. I forget all of the things, but my husband is always using up something or other of mine for our lawn now. Some of the formulas definitely work for us, others I'm not as sure. But either way, my husband is having a ball trying all of these "recipes".I'd recommend this book to someone looking to improve their lawn and who also likes to work on their lawn and try new things for it. Most of the tips are inexpensive and not too much time or trouble.

It is an easy read and worth purchase price.Mosquito tonic of 1cup lemon ammonia and 1 cup lemon dish soap 3 consecutive days to run off Mosquitos has had success on my back yard. Previous years, back yard was un enjoyable in summer because of bugs. Only thing I changed was adding peppermint oil also to tonic. I have read Mosquitos do not like lemon or peppermint. Has been working so far
