Abigail M. Judge, PhD, is a clinical and child and family forensic psychologist. Dr. Judge maintains a private practice in Cambridge, MA, is a Forensic Consultant at the Law and Psychiatry Service at Massachusetts General Hospital, and holds an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Judge provides psychotherapy, consultation, forensic evaluation, expert witness testimony, and reunification intervention. Robin M. Deutsch, Ph.D., ABPP, is a child and family forensic psychologist, board certified in couples and family practice. She is Director of the Center of Excellence for Children, Families and the Law at William James College in Newton, MA, where she developed the Certificate in Child and Family Forensic Issues and the Child and Family Evaluation Service. She is a founding Board member of Overcoming Barriers, was formerly an Associate Clinical Professor at Harvard Medical School, and was Director of Training and Forensic Services at the Children and the Law program at Massachusetts General Hospital for over 20 years. Good review of parental alienation issues, but not user friendly for average therapist. Advocates a particular program that is not readily accessed by most families. Nevertheless, it is a valuable resource for those interested in parental alienation and high conflict divorce.

The one redeeming quality of this book is that it mentions Craig Childress, which I am sure the authors regret in retrospect. Other than that, this book is garbage. Its authors present an apologist declaration in support of alienating parents, in the guise of supporting alienated children. Do yourself a favor. Avoid this book and read the books of Craig Childress instead.

Rather "dry" as this was written for clinicians (much like a textbook). However, as a lay-person needing to understand, it was quite useful.

Excellent program that every family court should have as a tool within their jurisdiction.

very pertinent to my work

Awesome text!

I am a therapist working with children and families in high conflict divorce situations and working to reunify parents and children in these families. I found this book an invaluable resource. Not only does it give critical concrete interventions, it also includes tools for psycho-education (which may not always be intuitive) and points out the ways traditional family therapy may not succeed in mending parent/child relationships. It also highlights how the parent that children continue to see may unintentionally or intentionally contribute to the problem and offers ideas to assist in changing that behavior. A great resource for therapist and attorneys who deal with families in these situations.

I have attended an Overcoming BArriers Program and was not impressed. They did nothing for me and my estranged family other than reinforce their negative views and their expertise was not regarded as helpful in my case. I found the camp ultimately not helpful in the least. I have been asked to write reviews but feel as if they cull out all negative or not positive critiques and wish to only present hopeful scenarios. My concerns about the camp and its direction went unadressed. Little to no outreach post camp experience other than to write a review.

I am writing this review for the whole series of five. I've had SUCH a great time with Joe and Becky and of course, Uncle Percy! The supporting cast is great too- Will and the others. And the villains are almost too evil for younger kids. I love how Ashmore incorporates myth and legend and history into the stories. And I adore his writing style!!! I pretty much lost a long weekend speeding through the series of five books. I sometimes will re-read a book or series, especially if it is rich in detail with a great plot and characters. And as I started last night to read the whole series again I thought I better share my joy with the Amazon community. I really hope Ashmore brings back the Mellors and Halifax for a new time travel series! And I can't wait for Carl Ashmore to bring on another book- or preferably another series as good as this one. Well done Carl Ashmore!!

In this third book of the Time Hunters series, Carl Ashmore has created another fantastic adventure filled with action, intrigue, and a coterie of captivating characters. "Time Hunters and the Spear of Fate" introduces us to several of Uncle Percy's fellow time travelers as well as a new and very nasty villain. We also see the return of some old favorites, including one of my favorite characters from Book One (Edgar the Minotaur) who returns to play a pivotal role in this adventure.In this third installment, Uncle Percy learns that his nemesis is after another of the five Eden Relics. As with the first two relics, our heroes attempt to find it first and prevent Emerson Drake and his evil entourage from getting their hands on it. Their search leads them to the lost city of Atlantis as well as Ancient Egypt. Joining their Uncle Percy once again are Becky and Joe Mellor. Although still teenagers, the Mellor children are growing up fast and they become much more involved in the action (and danger) that their latest quest brings.Perhaps the thing I love best about the Time Hunter series is the way the author incorporates historical characters, locations and events within the story. I find myself googling these facts to see which ones are based in reality and which are fictional. More often than not, they are fact. For example, I had never heard of Aribert Heim. So naturally I went to the internet to see if this person (also known as Dr. Death) actually existed... and he did. Yet the author incorporates him into the book in such a way that you actually believe this could have been part of his untold life story.Anyway, if you haven't read any of the Time Hunters books... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?!? These books are so entertaining, and such an easy read. If you love young adult fiction, page-turning adventure and/or time travel, you will love this series.

If you enjoy reading to relax, The Time Hunters series will fit the bill. This particular book will catch the attention of young adults as well as those of us who aren't too old to enjoy a brief respite from the world. The characters are true make-believe heroes as they traverse the realms of magic and deliver a blow to evil. Enjoyable fantasy.

I eagerly awaited book 3 of the Time Hunters series and was not disappointed a bit! Carl Ashmore writes with such passion that he infects those of us who read his books with the same passion. The first chapter reached out to quickly grab me and made it hard to put the book down. Becky and Joe are growing up and their adventures seem to be growing as well. The only thing I can add to what the other reviewers have written is BUY THE BOOK! If you have not started the series yet, please give it a try with Book 1, introducing you to the main characters. Then prepare yourself to be taken on some very imaginative adventures.*Sigh* Now I have to wait for book 4. However, I know it will be worth the wait.

Another shining series that engages the young & the young of heart.5 stars for top value, great reads, great entertainment.I bought the first of the series from an ad-hoc flag via Kindle Buffet, consumed it & bought the 2nd without hesitation (no sampling needed). At the end of the 2nd, left still wanting for more, rinse and repeat upon realising the 3rd of the series was also already out there.The series "may" be a little (very little) predictable in parts but that's not necessarily a bad thing & made up for in equal or more parts of the unexpected. Great twists on some points of history & mythology. NOT in any way shape or form a time travelling norm of travel in time, get trapped & then endure a long drawn out possibly boring account of how to get back.Look forward to touching base "solidly" with the kids Dad; hope that is coming very soon in the series & can't wait for the next in the series; please keep them coming.

I have read the first 3 books of "The Time Hunters" series by Carl Ashmore. I like to scout out books for my grandchidren, and this series is excellent! They are exciting, imaginative, and kept me reading to see what came next. All time travel is to the past and the characters and artifacts they encounter are fascinating. Some we think are mythical turn out to be real. For children ages 12 and up, these books are a great choice!

Becky, along with her brother Joe, Will, and Uncle Percy continue their time travel adventures. The story is slightly darker then the first one. This story could be a chance to open dialogue between parent and child about a variety of topics, including WWII.

Fr. McBride is genius. Intuitive, insightful, and warm along with a generous bit of humor. He is a gem!

In his Introduction, the author tells how the Shakespearean actor Alec McCowen came to do the Gospel of Mark as a one-man show. "He tried St. John, but found the material too symbolic and theological. Matthew had a good story, but was too long. Luke possessed great beauty but the aesthetics slowed down the pace of the story. Only Mark was short enough, straightforward, and blessed with a quick-paced story line." McBride finds this consistent with the fact that "we can find no better gospel than Mark's for experiencing the human Jesus... If we ever wanted to know about the emotions of Jesus, Mark offers us a satisfying profile of a Jesus who is as emotional as any of us." (pp. 14-15)"At the same time, Mark never ignores the mystery of Christ's divinity... He is not a mere wonderworker astonishing the crowds; he is a Savior come to redeem and love and forgive all who come to him in faith." (p. 15)On the Norbertine website, Fr. This is a very interesting book for anyone interested in history. Along with a map I got on line I was able to follow the narrative. It made it Easier to understand where we were fighting. The General is a good story teller. The number of men killed is appalling. But, when you look the numbers up, Japan faired much worse. It is nice to know he cared about his men so much. All generals are not like that.

Interesting book--70 years after the fact. It is clear that Eichelberger was considered one of the better generals in WWII. Interestingly, he was wanted by Marshall for Torch and Eisenhower initially as one of the Army commanders in Europe. This would have put Patton on the sidelines as a training general. How would our understanding of WWII changed as a result? He had a love -hate relationship with McArthur that seeps through every once in a while in the pages but only something he can put in his diary and not in a book that would go public while McArthur was still adored. Still his feeling for the everyday grunt and the understanding of combat and its effect is clear. He had mixed feelings about Coronet and Olympic knowing that the edge of the sword would have resulted in many deaths. For WWII buffs, something to read and review for contemporary thoughts

This is an excellent look into the battles of New Guinea, Solomons and the Philippine Campaigns. General Eichelberger served his country well in stemming the tide of the Imperial Army.His devotion to his Supreme Commander was unmatched, especially when you take into account how many times he placed himself and his command on the front lines. Many times they didn’t realize where the front was until the bullets started flying. He lost many good friends and colleagues in the South Pacific.His descriptions of the warfare are superb. He holds back nothing describing how primitive and dangerous it was to fight a stubborn opponent in a malaria, disease ridden climate.The only point I would debate was the retaking of the Philippines. He presents a good argument as did his boss to FDR on why it was important not to have the islands in the rear of the allied advance. Nimitz and Halsey were not fans of this campaign, but were overruled. Was it necessary to take the islands so MacArthur could clear his name keep his promise? There will never be a clear answer for us armchair generals, but it’s always fun to debate.The biggest drawback to the memoir is how it’s composed. It appears Eichelberger wrote this almost entirely from his diary and memories. The problem is it doesn’t always flow and when an important issue comes up and we’re told it will be addressed later, it never happens.A good addition for any World War Two collection.Four Stars

This is a well written book from the start of World War 2 in the Pacific until the occupation by the 8th Army.It reads well and reflects on the talent and ability of an incredibly good general. This is a rare story on WW2 in that most are based on the European war and not the US Army in the Pacific.General Eichelberger was a general who led from the front. That is saying a lot in that he was in the jungles of the New Guinea and the Philippines. Much of the war at that distance was very much on a shoestring logistical budget and the same with replacements early in the war.He whipped the Japanese everywhere he met them. He understood combined arms battles and the Aussie Allies in battle. He even managed to keep the Aussies and MacArthur happy. His success went from being a sharp Army Officer who became a Corps Commander and later the 8th Army Commander.At the end of the war he took the 8th Army to Japan and intelligently the occupation. Despite MacArthur getting the credit, it was General Eichelberger who managed the Japanese.It is a superb story if you enjoy military history or are a serving member of the military to how a smart general functions.

Easy writing style and excellent flow of action, with just enough descriptions of individuals' actions to provide some humor.Good if you want an objective look at the Army's role in the Pacific war.

General Eichelberger tells his history of the fight with IJA forces in WW2 in New Guinea, the islands around Rabaul and the pPhilippines. This largely unknown story documents the successful strategy of the Army under General MacArthur in turning back Japanese conquest of 1941- 42 by his chief deputy in the field. The book tells the story of the defeat of IJA forces in the Southwest Pacific TOO. It tells of the incremental battles and victories by the Allies in the Pacific island jungles of this region and finally sets the stage for the larger action to liberate the people of the Philippines and defeat Japanese forces in the Philippine islands. It concludes with the subsequent complete victory in the Pacific and occupation of Japan, from 1945-48.
