The first third of this book is a short (100 pages) but valuable summary of glaze history and glaze chemistry with how-to instructions for designing and testing glazes safely. The next 200 pages showcase the work of some of the best of today's ceramic artists. It's an amazingly diverse, beautiful, and inspiring collection of photographs. Another great feature is the bibliography, listing over forty classic books to read for more information. To truly master glazes you'll want to acquire and read several of the books listed there, but this is a great place to start. Ceramic artists and collectors alike will enjoy this well-designed book.

Lots of ideas for glazing here, including a break down of glazes used by a ton of working ceramic artists. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that I was hoping there would be more chapters on glazing and surface decoration techniques that are more beginner friendly for my students.

Well, I knew when I ordered it that a lot of this book was 'artist profiles' and that only the beginning was really about glazes and techniques, but two things kind of disappointed me. 1) The technique section was REALLY short and 2) I personally didn't LIKE the work in the artist profiles. It was all very similar, NOT the wide range of inspiration I was looking for. IF, however, you like the type of work profiled (mostly like the 4 pictures on the far right on the cover...) this could be the perfect book for you.

Amazing book with a lot of examples from artists all over the world. Every ceramist shows a piece of art with the recipe for the glazing. There are examples of modern and traditional ceramic.The first chapters describe the theory of glaze and colours with a lot of pictures.For me, iit's a very helpful book.

This is a great book, with some really fantastic glaze recipes and images. It's great quality and has been very useful to me in my ceramics career, as well as teaching ceramic students.

As an art student this book has been extremely useful to further learn about glazing, color, oxidation, etc. It's straightforward and an enjoyable read. I love the organization of sections and the compilation of different artists and their works and glazes. I definitely recommend this for anyone interested in ceramics, artists and art students.

Love this book. I'm a beginner so the technical portion of this book is over my head right now, but the artist profiles and examples are gorgeous and inspiring.

Awesome recipes.. Some brought back memories of my mom and aunties would make.. Something I can pass down to my daughters..

I'm from Alaska, and I love my Best of the Best Alaska cookbook. After two visits to Maui, I thought it would be fun to get the Hawaii cookbook. It's got a great selection of recipes and interesting facts and tidbits about the 50th state. It also includes information about luaus and a luau menu. It's a fun souvenir, and both the haupia and huli huli chicken I made from this book were super tasty.

This is a wonderful cookbook. I was born in Hawaii in 1950. I have traveled the world but there really isn't any place as beautiful as Hawaii, and that includes the dishes. Best of the Best from Hawaii is a great way to prepare those dishes. I give it 5 stars.

We lived in the islands for 4 years and just loved the food at all the pot luck affairs while we were there. This book reminds us of those times and has many many great choices that really do taste like they do in Hawaii. Great investment. BUY!

Just passed today! I am the 4th person I know of to use this book to pass the exam. I also used the Jeff Solheim TCRN e-learning from MED-ED. I'm giving this 4 stars because most of the questions in it are harder than on the actual exam and designed to trip you up. That said, the content covers everything I saw on the test and then some. Definitely learned alot. I also bought the BCEN online practice test after taking TCAR. 133 correct out of the 150. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I passed my TCRN using this book. The content is pretty straight forward and I found that the exam did include many topics found in this book. My problem with this study guide however are in the practice questions. Many questions asked have no connection to the content covered. I found this to be especially true towards the end chapters (continuum of care, ethics, etc). Some of the answers and rationale were confusing and seemed conflicted as well. I did like that this book came with online access though, you can study on the go or on a computer.

Will take the TCRN exam May, so far I love the organization of this book!Wish me luck!

This book is rife with questions over material material that wasn't covered, EXTREMELY poor wording of questions, as well as a very piecemeal collection of random points without cohesion. I read the reviews before I purchased and arrogantly thought those other folks were just being negative. Nope. This book makes you feel like a failure. I'm going to review ATCN and TNCC. Screw this.

I read this book and STN's study guide and passed the tcrn on the first time.

I just passed the TCRN. I found this book to be inaccurate, frustrating, and out of touch with reality. I thought I was going to fail the exam because of this book. I also used the book by the TCAR people which I found to be much more helpful.

Multiple errors throughout the book. Does not give pertinent answers OR rationals for questions or answers. Don’t waste your time or money on this book. Use your closest hospital library and use an ATLS or TCAR manual. I stopped using this book.

It's ok... not as informative or detailed as I would have hoped.
