This is the 4th book of the Black Stallion series. Like all of Walter Farley's books it is a complete story fans can be tread as a stand alone. I just suggest that you don't, so that you can really get the feel of the characters and their stories.Alex loves the son of the black, but soon learns that becoming a racing star means losing a private life. Through love and bravery Alec finds himself and his inner peace.Really great story. Mr. Farley always makes his characters feel like they are the reader's family.
This was a Birthday present for our granddaughter who has been introduced to Walter Farley's novels as I was 60 years ago. What a wonderful tradition to continue. Thank you for the opportunity to introduce the love of reading.
Another first class Black Stallion book. I read my first one at 14 and I'm 69 and still reading Black Stallion books.
You just can't go wrong with The Black Stallion series. Reading these to my daughter, and she is enjoying them as much as I did as a kid.

Walter Farley has done it again in another classic book of the Black and Satan! If you love his stories about The Black Stallion, I would recommend reading this book.
Can the Black's son, Satan, the Triple Crown winner, outperform the greatest horses in the world in one international race? The answer comes down to whether or not the race will ever be run as a disease sends all the contenders to a farm for quarantine.
