This book states it is for all tests this is a lie this does not prepare you for the national Frontline test not one question on here resembles the Frontline test which is. Onpelety different. It has a video portion and one part we're you write a sample report and one reading part. There is no map we're you have to answer questions no shapes nothing that is in this book it lies and shows it's reputions which is why I brought this over other books because I thought they had a great repution and this book would prepare since they said it for all test what a lie they have left ruined there 75 year reptuiion they are liers go to national fro tline test website and buy there practice test from there site the Frontline test is administered for Washington dc, Maryland l, Virginia etc.

I will say this first. I passed all my written exams. (I applied to three different police departments). So did reading this book help? I'll say yes. But it was more of a refresher read from what I learned in High school. And that was from over 15 years ago. If you are of average to above normal intelligence. Taking a quick read through this book will definitely help reinforce everything you should have learned in grade school. So buy this book and read through the whole thing, just so you have some peace of mind that you actually made an effort towards a very rewarding and life changing career. Good luck!Side note. I also purchased the Norman Hall's police exam preparation book. Buy both. Don't be stingy. Invest in yourself.

Of all the police exams this pretty much encompasses what most of them will test you on, that being said you really don't need a booklet to study but if you want to over prepare like I do this is one of the best out there!

I bought this to help my husband study for the exam and it also has useful essay information! I'm glad I bought this book for him. A good buy!

The answer key in the back of the book doesn't even match the practice exam questions! It's like they either rout in the wrong exam or wrong answer sheet!

As a retired police officer I am still interested in law enforcement books and material. When I saw this large soft cover book (417 pages, Kaplan Police Exams Prep: 2018-2019-Our 75 years’ experience=your competitive advantage) on the Amazon Vine program I decided to send for it.I wish I had this fantastic book to study when I took the law enforcement officer examination. There is no doubt that if you intend to join a police department you need to study this book. This covers in great detail all aspects of police examination topics. They even guarantee passing the police officer examination if you study this prep book.This large text is organized into three parts covering the following areas: Part one covers an introduction to police careers, the application process, about the exam, and test-taking strategies. Part two focuses on developing skills in spelling and grammar, reading comprehensive, verbal expression, logic and reasoning, mathematics, spatial orientation, memorization, visualization, and information management and problem sensitivity. The final part has four practice exams.It is important to note that this is a book that must be seriously studied to get the most benefit from it. You should also study parts one and two before taking the examinations in part three. I also took two of the prep tests to see how I would do now that I am retired and in my senior years. The focus of each exam seems to be a little different, some are with recognition skills, others determine the details in a traffic accident to determine fault.These books are 200 pages of information on various topics from spelling, to comprehension, to visualization, to math, and finally to information management and sensitivity in dealing with the public. Then there are 4 practice exams also a bit over 200 pages, at the price under 20 dollars a real bargain for those who are considering the test. Even if you are not wanting to join the police force, this would work for a security guard, a neighborhood watch captain, or just someone interested in what the police do. Recommended another well designed study guide by Kaplan.
