About the Author
Dion Leonard is a 41 year old Australian who lives in Edinburgh, Scotland with his wife Lucja. Dion has not only completed but competed in some of the world’s toughest ultra marathons across the planet’s most inhospitable landscapes. My Son, 11 years old, absolutely LOVED this book. Always hard for him to get into reading (as it is with many young boys I think), but he LOVED it. He'd read a chapter or two and come tell me all about it.What a great experience to read about and am so glad the author wrote this kids version!I'm now looking for other dog/animal adventure non-fiction for him!
I heard this author telling this/his true story on a radio interview and knew I HAD to get the book to read aloud to my son. We started last night and he wouldn't let me stop. My 10 year old twins are now begging to read it after I'm done reading it to their little brother. It's FANTASTIC!!!! Can't wait until the movie is made too
I love reading the Dion Gobi story. It's a very comforting story, very heartwarming, makes you swell up and then smile again. It helps restore faith among people. I am sending copies to my families and girlfriends with young kids and grandkids. They will really enjoy the book. I highly recommend this book. I read it aloud with my 8 and 9 year old sons who are both mad about dogs. They hiare now re-reading it on their own. Fantastic telling of a real story.
The young readers' edition is perfect for all ages from youngsters to young-at-heart. The sections with Gobi's perspective are very endearing and sweet. The story telling of Dion's and strangers' kindness to help animals and others resonated deeply. Highly recommend for the entire family.
I got this book for my 8 year old granddaughter who is a voracious reader and she loved it! I also bought the adult version and read it myself so we could discuss the story.

Both grandchildren loved this heart warming story of a dog who chose his owner. They'll be able to read it by themselves soon, as I bought the young reader version. At 4 and 7 they aren't able to read it by themselves.
